About us

The Black Fundraisers’ Network (BfN) was founded in 2006 by black professionals with a common vision and over 30 years of fundraising experience. The BfN provides a welcome meeting arena and support structure for BME fundraisers looking to network.

The BfN endeavours to promote professionalism, integrity and personal development. If these qualities resonate with you, we would like to meet you.

Vision

Our vision is to ensure that every black fundraiser has the skills, expertise and support to become a leader within the fundraising sector

Mission

Our mission is to enable black fundraisers’ to access appropriate and professional support and, that black community organisations have access to professional fundraising expertise.

Objectives

Our objectives are:

  • To promote networking among black fundraisers
  • To enhance the skills and abilities of black fundraisers
  • To promote professional fundraising within the black community
  • To improve access to fundraising expertise by black organisations
  • To represent the views of black fundraisers, both within the Institute of Fundraising and across the sector in general

Our Activities

The Black Fundraisers Network provides a forum for fundraisers from the black and minority ethnic community to meet, share experiences and access professional support.
As black professionals reflecting a wide range of charities and community organisations we are well aware of the feelings of isolation and lack of support for black fundraisers working in this sector. We achieve our aims through the following activities:

  • The BfN hold regular meetings and events, providing members with an opportunity to network with other fundraisers and a forum for discussion.
  • We organise training workshops and seminars to enable members
to participate in skills development and mutual learning.
  • We also provide Mentoring and Volunteering opportunities for members to gain confidence and further develop their skills as fundraisers.
