‘Our story – How we survived the funding cuts’- ACLT

No Comments blog

This special event was completely sold out and no wonder as we saw the likes of two great speakers; David Neita aka the Poetry Lawyer and Orin Lewis from the African Caribbean Leukaemia Trust (ACLT) -  also key note speaker on the night. They both delivered two power packed sessions. Orin relayed his amazing story of how the ACLT survived the funding cuts.  The passion that drives it, the rallying round of the community and the pure grit and determination that keeps them going from day to day.

Orin spoke candidly about the  plight of their beloved son Daniel who is the very reason why the ACLT’s exists today and the great legacy he has left behind.

If that wasn’t enough, we were also entertained with the spoken word poetry from the Poetry Lawyer David Neita. Who landed a bombshell on the audience announcing that he would be running Mayor in 2012!

Being the true gentleman he is, he kindly donated all the proceeds from the sale of his CDs on the night to the ACLT!! -  Now how’s that for fundraising in action!
