If ever there was a grey area in governance issues, then the payment of Trustees certainly ranks high on the league tables. Organisations are now under so much scrutiny moreso than they have ever experienced before. The recent scandal with the Arts Council proves this. According to a fairly recent Charity Commission report, the Arts Council, apparently awarded a grant of £10,165 to a member of its National Council. Also mentioned in the same report were two other episodes in which trustees risked compromise by awarding funds to organisations they had close links with.
