Volunteering

Why Volunteer?

Volunteering can be good way to attain those vital skills needed to give you that added edge when seeking recruitment in your chosen field. Not only that, volunteering provides you with an opportunity to give something back to something you passionately believe in.

In fact, there are many many reasons why people volunteer and here at the BfN we offer a number of volunteering opportunities within the network for those new and experienced in fundraising. We can also offer volunteering roles within the BfN committee as well as more widely across the voluntary sector in general.

As a volunteer, we can provide you with training opportunities through the Institute of Fundraising (IOF). We can also assign you a mentor through our Mentoring Scheme whilst you volunteer and at the end of your placement should you wish, we can help you with finding recruitment in the voluntary sector through our partnership with People Unlimited (formerly Charity People, the largest recruitment agency in the sector).

So, if you have some spare time on your hands (perhaps 1 day a week or even a couple of hours) and want to increase your job prospects in the voluntary sector or just want to find out more about volunteering for a charity; then please download the form and email us at info@bfn.org.uk. We do not currently charge for these services.

Are you looking for a Volunteer?

If your organisation is in need of a volunteer, we have a good calibre of volunteers on board and whilst we present a disclaimer on the character and credentials of volunteers; we will endeavour to match your organisation up with someone who we feel will best meet the needs of your organisation.

Volunteers can be supported by our Public Relations Officer who also oversees our Mentoring Scheme.

The fee for this service is currently £75.00 which we believe, compared to the potential dividends that could be reaped is minimal. This fee is paid to the Institute of Fundraising (Black Fundraisers’ Network) to cover future costs of the BFN .

If your organisation is in need of a volunteer, then please email your role profile to info@bfn.org.uk.
